As representatives from the Kanchan Foundation, Anop, Renuka, Chandrakant and Nisha visited the Malvi Educational and Charitable Trust located in the village of Kukeri in the Navasari district of Gujarat. Shantaba Vidyalaya is a project of Malvi Educational and Charitable Trust (MECT); Kukeri. Established in 2005, the school caters predominantly to children from tribal communities of South Gujarat.

Enrollment Expands

From 32 students, the enrollment has grown to 688 students in 2022, with 65% being girls and 37% being orphans or those with a single parent.

One of the projects they support is a Higher Education project where they give a grant to the students to pursue higher education. The Kanchan Foundation has been sponsoring students for last several years, last year support was for 15 students.

This year, Kanchan Foundation, in collaboration with another NGO, Ramesh/Jyoti Charitable and IDRF decided to support 104 students after several meetings at the site !  This was a great creative and collaborative effort by 3 NGOs to maximize the impact.
